2 Monday, September 26 You need your Elements of Literature book today.
Please take a bell work form from the basket. “Of Plymouth Plantation” quiz tomorrow. “The Beginnings” worksheet and “Of Plymouth Plantation” reading questions will be collected before the quiz tomorrow. Literary Terms quiz Thursday (#1-19)

3 Direct Object – A noun or pronoun that tells who or what receives the action of the verb
A direct object answers the question Whom? or What? after a transitive verb. A direct object may be compound, and for emphasis, may precede the subject and verb. Liana read the story before class. Should we elect the secretary or the treasurer next? Dylan saw a snake in the river. I ate dinner after I got home and took a shower later.

Indirect Object – A noun or pronoun that often appears in sentences with direct objects. An indirect object answers the questions to whom or to what (or for whom or for what) the action of the verb is done. An indirect object always comes before a direct object in a sentence. A verb can have two or more indirect objects in a sentence. An indirect object is never part of a prepositional phrase.
