3 Elevation Layout Establish the finish floor line from top of foundation 1 ½” sill plate on top of foundation 11 7/8” floor joists ¾” tongue and groove flooring Total of 14 1/8” Offset a construction line up 8’-1 1/8” to represent the ceiling 1 ½” Bottom Plate 92 5/8” Studs Double 1 ½” Top Plate Total of 8’ 1 1/8” Offset up 6’-8” from each finished floor line to represent top of the doors and windows

Draw exterior edge of foundation walls in dashed layer since it is below grade Offset down from top of foundation 7’- 10” for height of foundation wall on footing Offset line up 4” to represent concrete slab in basement Offset line up 6’-8” to show top of doors and windows Offset down 10” for bottom of footings Offset to exterior side of foundation walls 6” to show edge of footings Insert windows using blocks, explode and place on dashed layer Add dashed in window wells show extending minimum of 3” above grade.

Offset from exterior wall out 12” or distance chosen for overhang at eave Draw line out 12” Draw line down 6” or rise of your pitch chosen Connect the Triangle to give you the bottom of the 2 x 4 truss Offset up 3.5” to get top of truss line Erase triangle lines Offset top of truss line down 5.5” to show bottom of 2 x 6 fascia line Offset down 1.5” for drip edge line Fascia

10 Openings Layout Project width of all doors, windows, and skylights from the floor plan Insert window/ door blocks using reference lines Determine height of the skylights and project back to floor plan if necessary. Draw shape of the garage doors measured from the cement line (4” above ground line)

11 Labeling and Dimensioning
Specify all materials needed for the exterior These include the siding, corner and decorative trim, chimney, decks or concrete patios, posts and headers, roof material, and fascias. Also add dimensions and roof pitch

12 Chimneys Chimneys must be 24” above any portion of the house within 10’
