10 Mental factors Mental mental toughness concentration decision-making
Mental factors cover thinking and cognitive processes, including: Concentration is the ability to stay fully focused on a task for the full period of time that task is happening. This may be following a tactic, marking a player or carrying out a skill repeatedly. Motivation-is what drives you. It’s the desire and direction of your effort. So, in other words, it’s about being eager and working hard to succeed in sport. Decision-making – is choosing the correct option and the right time. Decision-making is when the performer makes a voluntary choice from a set of alternatives. This decision will usually lead to a movement, action, tactical change or selected skill. Mental toughness-describes the capacity of an individual to deal effectively with stressors, pressures and challenges, and perform to the best of their ability, irrespective of the circumstances in which they find themselves. The social factor relates to the features which can change when individuals have to work or perform on their own or with others. It also concerns areas of conduct while performing and the effect of culture and the environment on the performance.
