Course Selection Process
Course Selection Day for took place on Tues, 1/23. Students were given a selection form during their 1st class of the day. Students carried the form to all classes and received recommendations from teachers regarding the next course in that subject’s sequence. Counselors received selection forms to input into Bridges. Throughout the Spring semester, all students will be visiting with their counselor one-on-one to review course selections to: Confirm the student is on the right track for graduation. Answer questions regarding course options. Update their Bridges plan with any needed or requested changes. Student can review Bridges plan with parents. Course verifications will be sent allowing final changes if needed.

Course Selections for will be viewable in HAC starting on March 9th and confirmations will be given to students on March 23rd How to make changes March 23rd - April 9th 1. Print Bridges 4 Year Plan 2. Note any desired changes and sign the plan 3. Submit plan to your child’s counselor who will make changes No elective changes will be made after April 9th 2/22/18 – Bridges Parent Open Lab (6-8 pm)

Course Basics Ensure students are signed up for 7 periods
Consider graduation requirements (foreign language, fine art, etc) Consider their career goals Find prerequisites If two semesters average to a 70 the student will receive 1 full year of credit Students receive 0.5 credits a semester for each class they successfully pass

Athletic Considerations
Only one athletic period at a time There are tryouts for most sports Some athletic programs begin in the summer – Check athletics page on website towards end of year. (Ex: Football, Cross Country, Volleyball) If you do not make the team, you will be placed in PE All athletics require a PHYSICAL EXAM every year

National Honor Society
National Honor Society is an honor and privilege extended by the faculty to deserving students of Kingwood Park High School. Fall of 10th grade year is when students are invited to apply if their overall GPA is at least a 4.0 For detailed info, visit NHS website located on KPark Webpage under the ACTIVITIES tab.

SAT – Tests Critical Reading, Math, and Writing Perfect score 1600 (800 for each section) ACT – Tests Reading, English, Math, Science (writing optional) Perfect score 36 (Average of all three sections) COLLEGES WILL ACCEPT EITHER TEST!
