Defra, the Audit Commission & DCLG agreed to use WDF for BVPIs from 2006/7 onwards in March 2006.
User Group consulted on calculation methodology in April 2006
Revised questions (18, 69) in WDF for 2006/7 reporting in September 2006
Detailed guidance released onto WDF website in August 2006
Letter from Defra & CLG in September 2006
New BVPI reports on WDF in October 2006

3. The present …
National data set downloaded for 2006/7 by Defra in early August 2007 and sent to AC for EDC.
District Audit conducted during August/September/October
Any data issues to be directed to AC via Webform by 8th October
To be reviewed on case by case basis by AC and Defra during October -> finalised dataset for release in November

4. The future …? Calculation
Want to continue for 2007/8. Important that any issues are sorted out during the year, not after WDF data submission/validation has ended!

5. Overview of calculation method
84: total hh waste = collected for recycling (10, 12, 16, 17, 18hh, 33, 34), excl. rubble & reuse, plus residual from households in Q23. For WDAs includes WCAs recycling, and Q14 WDA recycling. Also forms denominator for 82.
82a,b; tonnages sent for recycling/composting (net of rejects) from Q10, 12, 16, 17, 18 (hh only), 33, 34, excludes rubble & reuse. Minus MRF rejects (% due to hh). Minus Q19 rejects (% due to hh).

82c; [inputs to Q54 and Q57 plus RDF produced in Q56 plus diverted for energy recovery from other routes (59, 64, 65) minus diverted for recycling from Q57]* %hh waste for energy recovery (Q69 or Q23 ratio) plus recycling rejects to energy recovery.
