2 QUICK DEFINE WHAT DO YOU KNOW ABOUT THE TERM GENRE?
TURN AND TALK TO THE PERSON NEXT TO YOU AND DISCUSS WHAT YOU KNOW. TELL THE CLASS WHAT YOU DISCUSSED WITH YOUR PARTNER.

3 GENRE A type or category of literature or film marked by certain shared features or conventions. The three broadest categories of genre include poetry, drama, and fiction. These general genres are often subdivided into more specific genres and subgenres. For instance, precise examples of genres might include murder mysteries, westerns, sonnets, lyric poetry, epics, tragedies, etc.

5 GENRE PROJECT YOU WILL WORK WITH A PARTNER TO DEFINE A PARTICULAR GENRE. YOU WILL CREATE A POWERPOINT PRESENTATION AND YOU WILL PRESENT THE PRESENTATION TO THE CLASS. YOU WILL RECEIVE A GRADE FOR THE PRESENTATION. YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO CHANGE YOUR ASSIGNED GENRE. YOU WILL NOT CHOOSE YOUR PARTNER.I WILL.

6 PROJECT GUIDELINES Communication, whether verbal or nonverbal, should only occur between partners. Partners should remain seated unless otherwise instructed. Partners should be silent when the TEACHER is talking or when completing an assignment UNLESS the TEACHER has instructed you to do differently. The TEACHER is the only individual who has the right to change partners. Request from students to change groups WILL NOT be considered. Volume within the groups should be kept to level 1 . Level 1 is a whisper. Both partners are required to do work. Work should be done equally.
