George Webster Children and Young People Sports Development Officer Active Norfolk Intro, invited by Cindee to talk about existing funding opportunities CYP and also what we do at Active Norfolk

2 Who are Active Norfolk? One of 49 County Sports Partnerships, since 2006 Funded (mainly) by Sport England Hosted by Norfolk County Council Main aim: Increase participation in sport and physical activity Explanation of who Active Norfolk are. Introduce yourself and explain your role within the team

3 6 weeks of activity aimed at young people 14-25 Priority 18-25’s
Target INACTIVE young people Women and girls projects Disability projects Sportivate launched off the back of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games Offer young people the opportunity to try a new sport / activity that they enjoy Priority 18 – 25’s in year 6

4 WHO CAN APPLY? National Governing Bodies Sport Clubs Youth Clubs Secondary Schools/Colleges/Universities Groups/Workplaces representing year olds

Quarter 3 & Quarter 4 projects – Monday 5 September 2016 This Girl Can Focus Deadline 18 April 2016 Disability Focus Deadline – 4 July 2016 Sport England funded, 3 year programme that is being evaluated by University of East Anglia, to find out what works best to encourage inactive people to do more activity. Lots of activities taking place all around the county, including Tennis, Golf, Swimming, Badminton, Dance, Aerobics, Running, Cycling and lots more.

6 Aimed at young people 14 - 25 (11-13’s can also attend)
Outposts of community sports clubs on school / college / relevant community sites Aimed at young people (11-13’s can also attend) Ongoing (at least 30 weeks of the year) Transition into community sport Affordable / friendly and welcoming environment Inactive Walks start from less than a mile and go up to 6 miles in length, so suitable for all abilities. New people that are not already active encouraged, as a way to build their physical activity levels to meet the recommendations. Always looking for new volunteers, who receiving free training to help lead the walks. Great way to socialise and meet new people – with the walks often meeting at cafes and pubs to walk from.

7 APPLYING FOR FUNDING Demand for a particular sporting activity / multisport offer Identified club link £ £3000 Walks start from less than a mile and go up to 6 miles in length, so suitable for all abilities. New people that are not already active encouraged, as a way to build their physical activity levels to meet the recommendations. Always looking for new volunteers, who receiving free training to help lead the walks. Great way to socialise and meet new people – with the walks often meeting at cafes and pubs to walk from.
