Symbols, symbols everywhere!

Symbolic Meaning: Almost anything can be a symbol. As long as an object/symbol can represent something other than itself, it has symbolic meaning. In some circumstances symbolic meaning can be personal and only a few view an object in that manner, however, many times a symbol has a meaning that is societally accepted.

The Symbolism Project Requirements:
You will be doing a symbolism project. The project must contain the following items: 5 symbols that are coordinated with your group color. 1 paragraph per symbol describing 3 different things the symbol could represent. The visual portion of the project should be done on a poster-board. Here are some examples of what the symbolic write up should look like:

The Tree Trees and the color green can represent the growth of nature in mankind’s world. With their jagged limbs trees can be seen as symbols of danger or foreboding. Another way that trees can represent something is through their growth from sapling to full-fledged tree, which can be a symbol for the passage of time or a person’s maturation process. A large and sturdy tree can be symbolic of a person’s willpower and willingness to stand firm in their beliefs. However, my favorite symbolic meaning for a tree can be found in its roots. The deeper the roots of the tree go, the surer a person is in their culture/person and where they come from or who they are.

Water Water has a knack for representing the flowing nature of life and how quickly things can change. They say that you never step in the same river twice. Water is also an easy symbol for destruction, whether that is in the form of a crashing wave or a rainstorm that sweeps through an unsuspecting town. If we look at a spring of water, we can see it as a symbol for a “new beginning.” When looking at water in its multiple forms such as ice/water/steam, we can see a symbol for being able to adapt to new circumstances. Finally, a deep blue, still, and silent pond, makes for a great symbol of loneliness.
