3. Rape Culture: Definition
Rape Culture is an environment in which rape is prevalent and in which sexual violence against women is normalized and excused in the media and popular culture. 
Rape culture is perpetuated through the use of misogynistic language, the objectification of women’s bodies, and the glamorization of sexual violence, thereby creating a society that disregards women’s rights and safety.

Blaming the victim
If a woman is assaulted, many people still default to, "What were you wearing?" "Were you drunk?" "Did you go there alone?"
All these thought processes take blame from the only place it belongs (the perpetrator) and puts it on the victim.
It is never the victim's fault for what somebody else does to them without their consent, no matter if they were drunkenly skipping naked through Central Park.

Defending rapists for the sake of fame
Hollywood's elite gave a standing ovation to Roman Polanski, a man arrested (and admitted) for drugging/raping a 13-year-old girl and convicted of unlawful sex with a minor who then fled the country to avoid prosecution.
Similarly, after Dylan Farrow told the world about the abuse she faced at the hands of Woody Allen, actors and filmmakers signed a letter in defense of the filmmaker, perpetuating the message art is more important than rape victims.

The Steubenville High School rape case really put the discussion of rape and rape culture on the map in the United States, as news outlets spent most of their coverage lamenting the loss of these poor boys' bright futures, instead of sympathizing with the 16-year-old girl who was repeatedly digitally raped and photographed, with photos and video being posted to social media.
