Analgesic – pain reliever Anaphylaxis – severe allergic reaction Anesthetic – substance that causes lack of feeling or awareness Anomaly – deviation from the norm Anoxia – lack of oxygen Antagonist muscle – muscle that counteracts action of the agonist; muscle that opposes movement

Anterior cruciate ligament – stops external rotation of the knee and anterior movement of the tibia Anteroposterior – refers to the position of front to back Antipyretic – fever reducer Anxiety – feeling of uncertainty or apprehension Apophysis – bone outgrowth to which muscle attaches Appendages– arms and legs
