1 Performance report No.: 1234567
Testing of PowerBatt treatment on starting batteries for Volvo Slovakia Participants from Volvo: Michal Baterka, Technical Manager Participants from PowerBatt: Marek Záporný, BDM Teo Kladný, Technical Manager Test performed in Bratislava, December 2012 1

2 + 38% Average increase in performance during load testing
Executive summary PowerBatt has performed the testing of 10 starting batteries of different age, used in logistics vehicles of Volvo The following batteries have been tested: 3x, 12V, 75Ah, 6 months old 3x, 12V, 80Ah, 12 months old 4x, 12V, 70Ah, 18 months old Results of testing can be summarized as follows: + 38% Average increase in performance during load testing The achieved results lead to following implications for Volvo Slovakia: Your company can double the lifespan of batteries, 7% p.a. of new battery costs through regular use of PowerBatt Using PowerBatt will allow you to harvest improved reliability and operational performance of logistics vehicles Over 400Kg CO2 emissions reduction for your company 2

3 Starting time under load

4 Battery maintenance processes Battery usage patterns
Qualitative assessment This section analysis the current state of battery portfolio management at Volvo Slovakia. Furthermore, it outlines the areas where opportunities for improvement can be harvested in short and mid run Battery maintenance processes Battery condition Currently there is no dedicated battery maintenance staff assigned. Battery servicing is one of several tasks performed by logistics vehicle maintenance staff Basic maintenance tasks such as control and adjustment of acid levels is performed regularly on ongoing basis, however the lack of systemic approach exposes some batteries to risk of not being checked for a long time In general, the batteries appear to be in standard condition. Few batteries had low acid levels and were covered by dust It is advised to establish a systemic approach to regular maintenance and preventive servicing of all batteries in portfolio Existing opportunities in battery operations Purchasing of new batteries is the responsibility of Technical procurement department, which is an industry standard Starting batteries at Volvo Slovakia are exposed to above average work load due to frequent start-stop movement of logistics vehicles and thus suffering from short charging patterns It is advised to pay extra attention to disabling of all unnecessary electrical equipment in vehicles before the weekend, which can substantially preserve the performance capability of batteries Battery usage patterns 4

5 Economic benefits PowerBatt can double the lifespan of properly treated batteries at a fraction of new battery costs (approx. 7%p.a.) 250 Euro 93% savings 19 Euro 5
