2 Mission and Leadership Team
Vision: Vision is to connect the school system to the needs of the STEM industries, so that teachers can help increase the pipeline of STEM students into our universities. “Catch Them Young” Mission: To conduct programs and do projects that gives students career exposure and hands-on experience to spur their curiosity and enthusiasm and at the same time create IEEE awareness in the Central Texas Schools for STEM( Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) Leadership Team: Hema Ramaswamy (Chapter Chairman) Ananth Dodabalapur (Vice Chair, Outreach) Jad Jadeja (Vice Chair, Programs) Objectives: Connect with local K-12 schools to understand the students’ needs Devise programs that excites and motivates students to participate in STEM activities Community Outreach Projects that bring awareness to IEEE CTS organizations 11/20/2018

3 2017 Accomplishments Theme: Outreach Programs for K-12 Students
Focus Areas Expose K-12 students to careers and courses in STEM so that they can make appropriate course selections during their high school for a STEM degree in college. Activities Spring 2017: Workshop at University of Texas for Freshman and Sophomore high school students Fall 2017: Westwood high school students at the “2017 IEEE Innovation Summit in Health and Technology” 11/20/2018

4 2017 Accomplishments Workshop at University of Texas for Freshman and Sophomore high school students A 2-half-day workshop Series of lectures by UT Professors and industry experts on several cutting edge technology and science topics.  Tailored for a high school audience and was intended to convey what the recent developments in several fields of engineering and science.  High school students who were onsidering college majors in STEM benefitted from the lectures, Q&A and meeting with the speakers Highlights of the event 77 registered and 72 attended Popular segments were Tour of the Microelectronics nanotechnology labs Lectures conducted by grad students....Age matters The faculty who participated were pleased and generally willing to do this again, as were the grad students Secured a mention in the NSF proposal done by UT professors for university research function for out reach activities Strong interest to make this a yearly event at UT Austin! 11/20/2018

7 2017 Accomplishments Westwood high school students at the “2017 IEEE Innovation Summit in Health and Technology” High school students volunteered at the registration, audio-visual, speaker felicitation Attended 12 speaker sessions in medical, technology, business/industry and policy Took lab tours From the Westwood Counsellor Deep appreciation letters from the counsellors and student ambassadors Strong desire to provide such opportunities for their students 11/20/2018
