Aim: What can we learn about working conditions in other countries from the factory collapse in Bangladesh? Do Now: Make a connection: Connect the article you read to either another event in history, something in your own life, or something else you have read. Please explain and elaborate on the connection (3+ sentences, 5+ extension). Grading expectations based on class-work rubric we created together.

3 Think/Pair/Share at Tables and Share Out
At your tables, discuss the following question: Make a connection: Connect the article you read to either another event in history, something in your own life, or something else you have read. Groups should develop 3+ take-aways (if you finish early or are completing the extension, please aim for 4 or 5!) Ex. We found a connection between… Be prepared to share out! Every table should select someone for the following roles: Recorder +Reporter Time Keeper +Whiteboard Eraser Director (makes sure all members are on task) 10 mins

We are just beginning our last unit on Globalization, which we will be completing a research paper on. How does this unit connect to our other units we have studied so far?

Post-Viewing Questions: Summarize the main points made in this video. Make a judgment: Do you agree or disagree with the man in the video? Justify your response (explain!) Grading expectations based on the class-work rubric we created together.

Post-Viewing Questions: (in your notebook) After watching this video, do you feel any differently about this tragedy or working conditions in other countries? Justify (explain). Draw a conclusion and compare: What differences do you see between the response to the emergency in Bangladesh and what you think the response would look like here in the U.S.? (emergency workers, technology, etc.) Grading expectations based on the class-work rubric we created together.

Which of these two responses from companies do you agree with? Imagine you were the owner of a clothing company. Would you pull your clothing from being produced in Bangladesh, or would you invest more money in insuring that there were more safety precautions put into place? Justify your answer (explain!).
