4. Definitions of Teamwork
Co-operation between those who are working on a task.
Teamwork is combined efforts, or the actions of a group, to achieve a common purpose or goal.
The process of working collaboratively with a group of people in order to achieve a goal.
Teamwork means that people will try to cooperate, using their individual skills and providing constructive feedback, despite any personal conflict between individuals.

8. T is for Training
Don’t assume the team will be unified and accepting of each other’s differences, but rather provide pre-team training of what it takes to be on a team, as well as, continued trust-building exercises.

10. E is for Empowerment
Don’t expect people to merely attend meetings and give occasional input, but rather truly give them authority to do their parts.

11. A is for Accountability
Don’t let self-centered attitudes grow, but rather point to the attitude and servant heart of Jesus as the standard for the team.
Leadership Skills Required: coordination, conflict management, and prayer

12. M is for Motivation
Don’t forget the big picture and get lost in all the details, but rather promote the development of perspective and an expectancy toward what God will do for the whole.

14. Building an Effective Team
Is a group of individuals who contribute in different ways.
Goals are CLEAR and AGREED upon by all.
Each member understands what they have to do.
There is a leader, facilitator or a coordinator.
There is a balance between what we have to do
(the TASK) and how we are going to do it (the PROCESS).

15. An Effective Team, continued
There is a supportive atmosphere, where everyone feels safe in saying what they think.
The group is comfortable with disagreement and can work through difficult topics with respect.
There is abundant discussion and everyone listens to each other.
Members feel safe to offer constructive criticism.
The group learns from their successes and failures and grows stronger as time goes on.

17. An Ineffective Team
People talk more than they listen and not everyone is
contributing.
Some members ideas are dismissed.
There are arguments between members of the
group.
One or two members dominate and make the
decisions.
Disagreements are put to the vote without being
discussed.

Some members are unhappy with decisions.
Little effort is made to keep to the point or to work to
deadlines.
There is a lack of clarity regarding goals and specific tasks.
Roles are not delegated to particular team members.
Members don't talk about how the group is working or
the problems it faces.
11. There is a lack of trust.

Teams need to align with God’s purposes and not just the tasks.
Therefore if you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any common sharing in the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and of one mind. (Phil. 2:1-)

21. 2) Building a team requires learning to function interdependently.
We need not bring personal agendas to the meetings. We are in this together which means we sometimes lay aside our own opinions for the good of the whole.
Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others. (Phil. 2:3-4)

22. Teams must exercise Christ-like character toward one another
Teams must exercise Christ-like character toward one another. His humility and servanthood in us will enable us to serve effectively together even when we disagree with one another. And we will disagree.
In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus: Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. (Phil. 2:5-7)

24. When we have a Team that is not functioning at 100%, where do we start the transformation?
List your strengths and weaknesses. Believe leaders are there. Recognize their potential.

26. Members of the team want to be:
Taken seriously
Assigned to meaningful tasks
Receive adequate training and supervision to enable them to succeed
Given job descriptions they understand
Involved in planning and critiquing the project
Recognized in a way that is meaningful to them
Accepted and valued for their uniqueness as a member of the team

27. Building Strong Relationships
The key then to team leadership is accomplishing the tasks at hand while building better relationships.
What is the single most important element of a relationship? TRUST
Ask yourself this: how many good relationships do you have with people you do not trust?

29. What are your gifts? What comes easily for you?
Without basic levels of trust, marriages break, organizations fall, countries collapse. We have witnessed all of these in our society. Building a team requires you to ask questions like: 
What are your gifts? What comes easily for you?
What do you like to do? What brings you joy?
What are you tired of doing?
What do you want to learn?
Where are you being led to grow?
