4 FIRST NATIONS In Canada, references communities of people identified as “Bands.” 3 Categories: Status Indians, Non-Status Indians, and Treaty Indians. Were formerly referred to as Indian.

5 INUIT Peoples that inhabit the northern circumpolar regions of Canada, the U.S.A., and Russia. Formerly referred to as Eskimo.

6 METIS Peoples who trace their ancestry to mixed European (French and Scottish) and First Nations parentage. Formerly referred to as Bois-Brules, Mixed-bloods, Half-breeds, and Black Scots.
