3 CDA 1: Role & Identity

4 CDA 1 CDA 1: Role & Identity My Rating: Overview:
Lesson Plan My Rating: Overview: The Monty Python video is outdated and the kids don’t think it’s funny. Are there any other videos you have used? Millennial Job Interview I have created a PowerPoint assignment for this that can be used by Business teachers. It is available on my website. CDA 1

5 CDA 2: Reality Check

6 CDA 2 CDA 2: Reality Check My Rating: Overview:
Lesson Plan My Rating: Overview: I don’t actually teach this much like the lesson is written. It’s wordy and too much group work. I created an Excel sheet for this where they look up actual homes for sale on Utahrealestate.com. Then they use the Utahfutures page to figure out their budget. This has worked great but those without a computer lab might want to stick to the original lesson plan. CDA 2

7 CDA 4: Exploring Non-Traditional Careers

8 CDA 4 CDA 4: Non-Traditional My Rating: Overview:
Lesson Plan My Rating: Overview: The video is good. I find the worksheet unnecessary but it’s good, same with the PowerPoint. I have two activities I do for this lesson that are great and I would like to add. Job Signs 10 Women I actually really like the presentation by Lecia Parks Langston—I project it on their screens and we discuss it. CDA 4

9 CDA 6: Lifelong Learning Pyramid

10 CDA 6 CDA 6: Learning Pyramid My Rating: Overview:
Lesson Plan My Rating: Overview: I like the first part of this lesson with the rapid fire questions and the skill demonstration. For me, I demonstrate drawing Ariel on the board for them. I like the Candy video but I find the whole section about it kind of weird. I understand what this lesson wants to teach, but the worksheet is really confusing. I have tried to improve it but have been rather unsuccessful. What exactly is this lesson trying to teach, and how can we make it more SIMPLE? It seems kind of all over the place… CDA 6

11 CDA 7: Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

12 CDA 7: Skills & Abilities
Lesson Plan My Rating: Overview: I like this lesson and teach it pretty much as it’s laid out. It’s simple with not too many activities. This is my go to substitute lesson because it’s easy to give a sub! CDA 7

13 CDA 8: Work Values

14 CDA 8 CDA 8: Work Values My Rating: Overview:
Lesson Plan My Rating: Overview: I printed bills with different currencies and put them on the board. I call kids up to pick which one they want. Then we look them up on Google to see their value and who has the most money. A VERY fun activity. I liked the values from the old lesson—there were 12 of them and they were more in depth than the six in this one, so I actually use the old ones. My PowerPoint I have never used the Intrinsic/extrinsic worksheet. Thoughts? CDA 8

15 CDA 9: Identifying Career Interests

16 CDA 9 CDA 9: Career Interests My Rating: Overview:
Lesson Plan My Rating: Overview: I like the opening activity where they organize things in groups—I use candy for that. Then I give them a personality survey that I created that sorts them into Holland code groups. The group activity is fine. I used Google Slides instead of making a poster, but it works. I did run out of time though. CDA 9

17 CDA 10: Connecting Interests to Career Pathways

18 CDA 10: Interests & Pathways
Lesson Plan My Rating: Overview: In my opinion, this is the worst lesson in the whole set and needs to be completely re-written. The “activities” are not really activities. Am I missing something? What have you done for this lesson? CDA 10

19 CDA 11: Financial Responsibility

20 CDA 11: Financial Responsibility
Lesson Plan My Rating: Overview: I had to give this to a sub this week—and it was difficult. The football video doesn’t go with the lesson very well. The Big Future video is kinda boring. Finding any online financial game that is FREE is difficult—almost all the links for this site are dead. I focused on the Needs and Wants section and had my students create a PowerPoint with images of needs vs. wants. But much more could be done for this lesson. I have created a Needs/Wants game for this—my students loved it! CDA 11

21 CDA 12: Positive Employment Traits

22 CDA 12: Employment Traits
Lesson Plan My Rating: Overview: I never use the first part with the articles. I LOVE this video about Fixed and Growth mindset. I start with an activity where I write a problem on the board and ask them to solve it—then I watch to see who tries and who doesn’t. After the video, we talk about how we respond to challenges, and which mindset each student had when faced with one. I have them take a survey on grit that I found here. CDA 12

23 CDA 15: 1, 2, 4, or More

24 CDA 15 CDA 15: 1, 2, 4, or More My Rating: Overview:
Lesson Plan My Rating: Overview: Confession: I have never taught this lesson. Monte and the World of Possibilities is cute—I found a good Youtube video for it. The Teen Takeover videos are awesome. I like the folding paper activity—I re-colored them so that they were different. CDA 15

25 CDA 16: Jobs & Future: STEM

26 CDA 16 CDA 16: STEM and More My Rating: Overview:
Lesson Plan My Rating: Overview: I created a better PowerPoint for the bigger version activity. WHY do none of these worksheets have a name line??? Has anyone actually played the Huddle game? CDA 16
