2 Activator Take out your Packet
Leave your homework on the corner of your desk Solve on your bubble sheet

3 Objective I will be able to apply my knowledge of inverse operations and use rail road tracks So that I can solve equations and inequalities to determine the values that make the solution true. I will know I got it when I can solve at least 3 problems independently to form a tic-tac-toe and substitute my answer for the variable to determine if I solved it correctly. (6.EE.B.5, 6.EE.B.6 6.EE.B.7)

4 Language Objective By the end of the lesson, students will be able to use the language domains of listening, reading and writing. They will listen to the class discussion, read inequality or equation statements, and write the solution of the equation or inequality by using the inverse operations and rail road track method. They will show their understanding by completing at least 3 problems independently to form a tic-tac-toe and then check their answer by substituting for the variable. Academic Math Language Vocabulary: Equation, inequality, inverse operation, rail road (train track) method, substitution, variable, greater than, less than, greater than or equal to, less than or equal to, equal to.

5 I do… pg. 166 #1 c y + 6 > 16 y + 6 > 16 - 6 - 6 y > 10
y > 10 True if y is greater than or equal to 10 False if y is less than 10

6 I do… pg. 166 f 3g < 15 3g < 15 ÷ 3 ÷ 3 g < 5
÷ ÷ 3 g < 5 True if g is less than or equal to 5 False if g is greater than 5

7 How do you feel? topic.

8 we do… pg. 167 D F - 4 > 2 f - 4 > 2 + 4 + 4 f > 6
f > 6 True if f is 8, 10, or 14

9 I do… pg. 167 f ½ h > 8 ½ h > 8 * 2 * 2 h > 16
Dividing by ½ is the same as multiplying by 2 ½ h > 8 * * 2 h > 16 None of the numbers in the number set will make the number sentence true.

10 How do you feel? topic.

11 Solve the problems on the back of your handout.
Tic-Tac-Toe (20 minutes) Students will work independently to select and solve 3 problems that will form a tic-tac-toe (horizontal, vertical, or diagonal line). Solve the problems on the back of your handout.

12 How do you feel? topic.

13 Ticket to go Choose 1 and solve.

14 Finish a 2nd Tic-tac-toe

15 Accommodations Read or reread presentation or activity directions, as needed or after prompting Use examples to model and act as a guide for emerging learners
