Parallel Lines

In order for two lines to be parallel, they must:
Have the same slope and Have different y-intercepts.

Which lines are parallel?
y = 4x + 2 and y = 2x + 1 and y = 2x - 3 y = -2/3x + 2 and -2x - 3y = -9 and -2y – 3x = 2 y = -2x + 4 and y = 3x + 4 and y = -2x – 1

y – y1 = m(x – x1) Write the equation of a line that is parallel to y = 3x + 2 and goes through the point (2, 4). y = 3x - 2

y – y1 = m(x – x1) Write the equation of the line that is parallel to 3y – 2x = 6 that goes through the point (3, 5). y = 2/3x + 3

y – y1 = m(x – x1) Write the equation of the line that goes through the point (-4, 1) and is parallel to 8x – 2y = 7. y = 4x + 17

y – y1 = m(x – x1) Write the equation of the line that is parallel to y = 4 and goes through the point (3, 6). y = 6

y – y1 = m(x – x1) Write the equation of the line that is parallel to x = 6 and goes through the point (-2, 4). x = -2
