5. Investigating Symbol in TKAM 45 MINUTES
Step 1: Analyze Lee’s use of symbol in chapters 5 and 10.
What does nut grass symbolize? How do you know? Be specific and include as many details as possible.
What does the mockingbird symbolize? How do you know? Be specific!
Why did Harper Lee include these symbols? How do they help to develop themes and plot?
Take out your character log. We will create symbols for some of the characters in TKAM.

The fishbowl discussion worksheet will be collected for a grade and will also help you study for the test.
