1 Volleyball Fall Sports Meeting
Central High School Volleyball Fall Sports Meeting ~2015~

Varsity Reserve: Katie Hanson Junior Varsity: Brittany Randall

3 Tryouts: Aug 17-19 Monday: 9am-12:30pm (Seniors must be there by 8:30am to set up nets) Passing, Agility tests, Hitting, Setting, Mile Run* Tuesday: 8:30am-11:30am Serving, Blocking, Defense, Serve Receive First Teams List will be posted by 11:30am outside the of locker room. Wednesday: 9am-12:00pm Finish up testing, Team Drills, Communication Final Team Lists will be posted by noon outside of the locker room. All levels of teams will be discussed with the entire coaching staff. We will look at tryout scores, communication skills, motivation, work ethic, athletic ability, and team work. If at any point you have questions or concerns please contact Kate Moll at or Parents should not talk to a coach after a match about playing time, but rather set up an appointment. (Players must be present in all meetings regarding playing time or playing concerns.)

4 Practice Attire & Eligibility
No jewelry Have Knee pads & proper court shoes appropriate t-shirt Spandex or shorts Eligibility: WIAA physical exam or alternate year card Insurance and code verification card Medical emergency card Attendance at sports meeting

5 Practice and Game Expectations
Players will be responsible for setting up/taking down nets. Everyone helps with equipment setup before grabbing balls. Each team is responsible for their own court(s) for practice. Practice starts at 3:40pm.(Subject to change depending on availability of coach) Players should inform their coach if they need to see the athletic trainer. Match Responsibilities: Varsity: set up game nets in both Sutton and Hackett 3:30pm VR: taking down varsity net after match & assisting with game stats JV: video taping home and away matches and net take down after their match Varsity is expected to arrive no later than 5:30pm at home matches. JV/VR are encouraged to stay and support varsity. Keep your coach informed as to where you are going to be. If for some reason a player cannot stay then it must be approved by a coach.

6 Traveling With the Team
Players will travel home with the team unless appropriate arrangements have been made between parent and coach. (Travel Forms Signed) Be on time! Being late can result in missing the bus and/or playing time. Players are not allowed to leave the playing grounds without a coach. You represent Central High School and our volleyball program wherever you go, so please act and dress appropriately. When playing at home or matches within the city of La Crosse you are responsible for transportation. We will not have any bussing for games to Aquinas and Logan.

8 Attendance Unexcused absence makes student ineligible for next contest
Absent from school for more than half the day makes student athlete ineligible to practice or compete Unless there are extenuating circumstances, as determined by activity director or a principle, a student-athlete is required to be in class the day after an athletic contest Schedule appointments around practice times and matches Players that are sick during the school day or leave school early need to leave a message for their coach in the high school office. Messages can be left with the Athletic Administrative Assistant, Lana Beyer or text/call your coach. Failure to attend practice the night before a match can result in the player sitting out or not starting the first game

9 Conduct Code Violations:
Use/possession, buying or selling of alcohol, drugs, and/or tobacco Attendance at functions where alcohol/drugs are being consumed Theft, vandalism, or fighting on school grounds Flagrant violation of the Student Code of Rights and Responsibilities Conduct contrary to the ideals, principles and standards of the school and the WIAA, including but not limited to criminal behavior Consequences: 1st Offense is 50% of consequence opportunities for the season reduced to 20% with successful completion of awareness class. 2nd Offense is 100% of consequence opportunities for season reduced to 50% with successful completion of extensive educational course. 3rd Offense is one year suspension from co-curricular activities from date of offense When a student is on school grounds or at school related events in the possession of and/or under the influence of drugs or alcohol, the ultimate consequence will be doubled and there will be no option for self-referral. Tobacco Use/Possession: 1st offense-1 event, 2nd offense-2 events, 3rd offense-3 events Attendance at Gathering: 1 event per offense Violation of Student Code of rights and/or conduct Contrary: Community service to expulsion from co- curricular activities

10 Final Expectations Have FUN!
Playing volleyball is a privilege not a right. I am asking you as parents and players to support what we do by encouraging everyone. I am not going to tolerate disrespect or destructive behavior. If you can not be supportive and respectful, then I encourage you to leave the program. This program was here before you and this program will be here after you. Have FUN!
