Divide the numerator of the fraction by the denominator
- The numerator (dividend) goes on the inside of the division symbol; denominator (divisor) goes outside
Divide until there is zero remainder or the decimal repeats

Determine the place value of the last digit on the right of the decimal point
Write the decimal value over that place value (power of 10), leaving off the decimal point
Simplify to lowest terms
