2. What is it?
Found object sculpture is basically exactly what it sounds like: Sculpture made from objects that are normally discarded.
This is sometimes also referred to as “junk sculpture.”
Think about all the stuff you have at home you could use junk or recycles.

3. ‘FOUND OBJECTS’ CAN BE (but are not limited to): Tools (your own)  household items, furniture,photographs,toys, books,maps,clothes,shells, animal skeletons,feathers,etc.

4. Objects
Objects in found object sculpture are bonded together to create a work of art, whether abstract or representational.
The objects can be glued, welded, nailed together, etc.
Have student list glue, weld, nail, tied, rivet, bolted, screw together, wire, weaving

5. Form has height, width and depth

6. Relief sculpture Relief sculpture
Latin term relevo, to raise. To create a sculpture in relief is to give the impression that the sculpted material has been raised above the background plane.

7. Junk Sculpture
Additionally, many people paint, rough up, or patina these objects to give them added effects.
Most people like found object sculptures to have a rough, primitive look.
You determine the outward appearance of your sculpture

11. In simple terms, your task will be to find objects which you consider significant, and then to put them together in a unique way - transcending them thus to a higher level of visual understanding.

12. Do not let the beauty of the “Found Objects” seduce you to the point of forgetting that the final design must be more interesting than the elements that comprise it.

13. This means that your piece should display a good understanding of Form, Space, Content, and must be carefully constructed
Think about texture, colors, shapes etc

14. Assignment Things to remember
Sculpture can be any size as long as it can get thru my front door and leave by my front door.
Sculpture must be aesthetically pleasing to look at.
Sculpture must be put together so that it is secure
Free standing (balanced)
Think about the textural elements (surface quality)
