Communication Games In the real world, it takes teamwork for innovative ideas to come to fruition. Science is a complex social activity that involves communication across disciplines and often continents. Your task today will be to use effective communication skills to replicate the work of scientists.

Communication Games Working with your partners, create a prototype using some or all of the materials provided. You may not alter the materials in a way that would make them unusable for the next class. You have 7 minutes to build your prototype.

Communication Games On the right side of page N1 of the Notes section, write down the bag number and the directions to replicate your prototype. You should use only numbers and words. Be clear and concise so that someone can replicate your build. ALL group members MUST write the directions the same. You have 15 minutes to complete this portion of this activity. Once complete, place your prototype inside of the paper bag.

Communication Games Trade bag and directions with another group. If there are uneven groups, trade again. You will now try to replicate the group’s prototype while following their directions. You have 10 minutes to complete this portion of this activity. If you finish early, double check your work.

Communication Games You may now look at the original prototype and the replica together. In your notebook, answer the following questions on the left side of your page 1 notes (directions). What was difficult during the activity? What was easy? What communication, besides only written words and numerals, would have been helpful? How might you have done this differently if you had been able to plan ahead? How does this activity relate to science class?
