Purpose Explain storage and moving allowances
TSM Separating/Retiring this will be their last move in the military Moves the member out of the military and into Civilian life

HOR/HOS Home of Record (HOR)- Place where the member entered the military Home of Selection (HOS)- Any destination in the United States

Extended Housing Allowance
Involuntary separatee Selected Early Retirement Board (SERB) retiree 180 days

Shipment/Storage Eligible retirees and certain involuntary separtees
Separation pay and 8 years continuous active service Storage/shipment up to 1 year Household goods shipped to: Any destination within the US HOR outside the US Place outside the US where they were initially called to duty

All other separtees Storage/shipment of HHG up to 6 months Items may be shipped to location they collected separation travel pay

Entitlements Separating with less than 8 years of service/adverse condition Request HHG shipment 6 month storage HOR move

Entitlements cont. Retiring members must:
Complete travel within 1 year Can request extension prior to 1 year Separated members must: Complete travel within 180 days Certain circumstances members can request extension prior to the 180 days

Entitlements cont. HHG have to be turned over by days/1 year time limit HHG may be stored up to 180 days/1 year

Entitlements cont. Member traveling alone by privately owned conveyance (POC) Monetary Allowance in Lieu of Transportation (MALT) Flat rate per diem Additional allowances for members accompanied by dependents in a second car DLA is not authorized for a move when separating/retiring

Purpose Counseling that is available to the TSM through the Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Government Quarters Arrange for pre-inspection Rental property Notify the landlord ASAP Housing Office can assist with any landlord problems

LAW that governs legal protection of the United States Military Begins on 1st day of active duty Some of the acts protect dependents National Guard members recalled for state duty

Termination of Residential Lease
Break a lease when you go on Active duty PCS orders Deploy not less than 90 days

Servicemember must make the request in writing Copy of orders Deliver by hand, commercial carrier,, or mail (return receipt)

Termination date for monthly lease is 30 days after the first date on which the next rent is due Arrangement other than monthly earliest termination is last day of the month, following the month notice was given
