2 Learning Intention and Success Criteria
Learning Intentions To gain an understanding of the Creating and Presenting Outcome. To gain an understanding of some major themes presented in ‘The Illustrated Man’. Success Criteria By the end of this tutorial you should have an understanding of how the text links to the context of ‘Future Worlds’.

3 Creating and Presenting
Draw on ideas and/or arguments suggested by a chosen Context to create written texts for a specified audience and purpose; and to discuss and analyse in writing their decisions about form, purpose, language, audience and context.(VCAA 2010). What does this mean???

4 Creating and Presenting
Your goal is to draw ideas from the text and use these ideas to write about the context of ‘Future Worlds’. To successfully complete this outcome your will be required to complete the following An imaginative piece A persuasive piece An expository oral presentation. For written pieces, you will be required to include a reflection page that discusses the decisions you made when writing your pieces.

6 The Illustrated Man A collection of short stories written by Ray Bradbury. First published in 1952 Year 11 students will be required to read a selection of the short stories featured in this text. The stories in this text will be used as a ‘springboard’ for your writing pieces.

7 Answer the following questions
The Prologue Read the prologue as a class (pages 1 – 9) Answer the following questions What do we learn about the text from the prologue? Write a brief overview (4-5 sentence). What questions remain unanswered? Provide three. In what ways does the prologue link to the context of ‘Future Worlds’?

8 Reading Activity Read ‘The Last Night of the World’. (Pg. 145 – 151)
Once you have read this story… Write a brief summary of events. Suggest how this story might link to the context of ‘Future Words’?

9 What are you expected to do by the time you return to school?
