Trials and Executions: Signs Upon the Earth (58-62AD). Paul was arrested in 58AD by Felix and placed under house arrest for two years in Caesarea. Paul is tried before the Sanhedrin and High Priest Ananias in Jerusalem causing a riot. He is removed by the tribune Lysias to Caesarea. Paul appeals to Caesar for a hearing to be judged. He sails in 59-60AD.

There were 100,000 slaves in Rome equal to 33% of the population. Paul was released in 62AD. He tries to reach the 20,000 Jews in Rome through evangelization. The Roman captivity letters of Paul include Philippians, Ephesians, Colossians, and Philemon written in Rome 60-62AD while under house arrest.

In 62AD, Festus died and Ananias wrongly convened the Sanhedrin to condemn James the Just for blasphemy wherein he was stoned to death.

Through the Refiner’s Fire (63-68AD). Nero began his reign of terror in 62AD. He probably burned Rome in 64AD. He named the Christians as scapegoats who were to be killed in the Circus Maximus. Peter and Paul were executed in Rome between 65-68AD.

Nero murdered his mother Agrippina in 59AD and his wife Poppaea in 65AD. Nero committed suicide in 68AD. Riots broke out in Judea in 66AD and a revolt against Roman rule in the province. The Jewish revolt ousted the Roman occupiers in 67AD but the Jews were factious and not united. Vespasian moved militarily on Galilee and his son Titus on Judea 67-70AD.

I Peter was written by Peter around 64AD in Rome.
II Peter was written by an unknown person between AD. The pastoral epistles of I and II Timothy and Titus were written by an unknown follower of Paul between 65-70AD.
