2 What is ….. Agency Empowerment?
The next few slides that we will take a look at will explain to you just what the Agency Empowerment program is all about. If I move on too fast or do not answer your question(s) in the next few slides, please write down your questions and at the end I will answer any questions you may have…….

3 Agency Empowerment is….
Partner Agencies that are matched with local stores and/or restaurants donors. Partner Agencies that will take on the responsibility and reporting duties according to the ASHBB and Feeding America guidelines. 1. Partner Agencies (you all sitting in here!) can have the opportunity to be matched with local stores and restaurants in your county that provide donations to ASHBB. 2. If you are deciding to become a partner in the agency empowerment program you will have to agree to following the guidelines in place. Let’s take a look at those responsibilities and reporting duties briefly…..

4 Purpose of Agency Empowerment
To assist ASHBB with more frequent donor pick-ups. To assist ASHBB with the “minimal” donations. Provides opportunity for agencies to gain a new relationship in the community. 1. Assisting ASHBB with additional pick-ups from donors that have requested additional days of pick-ups. 2. The donations may be of minimal poundage that would be more beneficial for an agency to directly pick-up verse one of the large ASHBB trucks to do it. We love all sizes of donations and appreciate each and everyone of them regardless of the weight!

5 Incoming Product Information Sheet
Weekly reporting requirements of the product type and poundage weight. Must be ed in by every Monday (the beginning of the week after the pick-up). Product type and volume will vary on a weekly basis. An excel spreadsheet will be provided to you and it includes the instructions on the 2nd tab. Reporting duties involve completing the Incoming Product Information Sheet. This is where you will record and report the poundage you picked up from the store or restaurant. It must be ed every Monday to me. Once we have completed all required paperwork and I have assigned you to a store or restaurant, I will you this excel workbook filled in with your assigned location.

6 Updated Form Alert!!!!! I have made recent changes to the Incoming Product Information Sheet!! In order for us to work more efficiently at ASHBB, this form was created to be more uniformed and it will be required for all Partner Agency to use as part of the Empowerment program. To give you a better understanding, we have multiple forms of data that we a required to input and to make the processes smoother, we need to work smarter and not harder. Changes made – Blue circle: Dates and type of product listed differently! Red circle: New details added. We are required by Feeding America to uphold food safety rules; therefore, we are now required to take the temp of our food donations when we take them from the donation site and temp when you arrive to your agency site. You will be provided with a temperature gun in order to fulfill this new addition. Current agencies – you will be ed a new updated form after this conference and will be required to be used immediately. Please see me before leaving this conference. Once you have verified I have the correct address for you then I will provide you with a temperature gun.

7 One of the very important pages of the food safety guideline that we are required to follow. No exceptions to the rules. Please notice the temp the food must stay at or below (41 degrees F) at all times. If you need additional information please come and see me and we can go over food safety together.

8 Things to remember Incoming Product forms are due when??? MONDAYS! Please feel free to send anytime before Monday after the pick-up. Please DO NOT alter the spreadsheet! It is a REQUIREMENT to record temperature when picking up donations AND when unloading donations at your site. (Sorry this is not optional) Failure to report on time and failure to meet ALL requirements will lead to the reassignment of pick-ups given to a different agency. I know that sometime change can be a little difficult, but sometimes necessary. In order for you to help you, I need for you to help me. These changes are to allow me to work smarter and not harder and also meet some required guidelines set in place by Feeding America. We have set aside specific days for us to complete data entry and receiving information later than needed is not always the best for us to do data entry. As always, please feel free to contact me at anytime with questions and/or concerns so that we can continue to fight hunger in the Big Bend!

9 Is your ASHBB account in good standing?
So are you interested?? Can you handle picking up donations of various types? (Various pounds from 5 lbs and up..) Do you have the ability to keep the foods at the required temps in order to maintain food safety measures? Will your schedule allow for available time (s) and day(s) to be added to it in order to complete the mission of picking up donations? Is your ASHBB account in good standing? If you answered YES to ALL of the questions…I need you to partner with me! I currently have a few opportunities available right now. I have a few current and upcoming opportunities such as Starbucks, a few grocery stores (like Earth Fare, New Leaf, Wal-mart, Big Lots, Target). As needed, agencies will be provided with scales, temperature devices in order to keep an accurate temperature log of each pick up.
