2 We use our telephone or cell phone everyday. It is a faster way to communicate with our family, friends, or people. And if you have an emergency to call for help. But it took smart people with the best ideas to invent the telephone. As you read this you will see how the telephones were back then and how they improved. The telephone is one important device, that almost the whole world has a telephone or cell phone. Just imagine what would we be doing now if there was no telephone or cell phone?

3 We should all thank Alexander Graham Bell for inventing the telephone in 1876. Bell was born in March 3, 1847. He was a scientist, inventor, engineer and innovator. His first invention was dehusking machine which was used to take husk of any vegetable. Bells mom and wife were both deaf which was a reason his work was getting better. He also worked with the deaf. How he knew the telephone was a success is he called his assistant Thomas Watson and Thomas answered and Bell knew it worked He had an idea and invented the telephone. Bells invention was a success. He died on August 2, 1922.

5 Using the first practical electrical amplifiers, developed by AT&T's Harold Arnold, AT&T opens the first transcontinental telephone line in 1915 In 1919 AT&T installed the first dial telephones in the Bell System. In 1951 AT&T introduces customer-dialing of long distance calls. In 1963 AT&T introduces touchtone service. In 2005 AT&T and SBC Communications announce an agreement.

6 This was a vertical metal cone with a piece of parchment stretched like a drum over its narrow end at the base. On the outside of the parchment, Bell had glued a cork with a needle stuck in it, pointing into a tiny cup of diluted sulphuric acid.

8 The telephones now are pretty easy to use. Some phones are connected with wires and they have buttons. The buttons have numbers on them, you will push in the phone number which is the person you want to call. Their phone will ring and you talk through the small ear. It is also comfortable to use.

9 Modern Cell Phones Old Mobile Phone.

10 The first phone company was called A&T was founded in 1983. It was first invented in 1875 Bell, Gardjner Hubbard, and Thomas Sanders were the ones who done this work. It was first called Southwestern Bell Corporation. It is the biggest provider both of mobile the largest provider both of mobile telephony and of fixed telephony[5] in the United States. It still runs today.

11 Dr. Martin Cooper is considered to be the inventor of the first practical mobile phone. He placed a call to rival Joel Engel, head of research at AT&T's Bell Labs, talking on the first Motorola DynaTAC while walking the streets of New York City.

12 Cell phones are much smaller. Now there are touch phones, phones with tiny keyboards, and flip phones. You can also now play games on the phones, download music, take pictures, and you can have access to the Internet. Since a cell phone is much smaller it can fit right in your pocket.
