2 Vision Statement & Philosophy
The Twin Rivers Middle School Counseling Program will play an integral role in the development of considerate, world-class citizens by fostering positive relationships and creating a safe environment in which lifelong learning can take place. In addition to all students graduating college and career ready, they will also provide equity and access for future generations to become productive members of society. Our vision for students is based on the beliefs that: All students can demonstrate honesty, integrity, responsibility, and respect. All students can serve as leaders in the classroom, school, and community. All students can value the unique traits of themselves and others. All students can learn at their greatest potential and can share in the accountability of their learning. All students will have access to the school counseling program, which is driven by current school data and state and national standards. All students will receive support that is differentiated to reach their personal goals in a compassionate and encouraging environment designed to meet their individual needs.

3 Mission Statement The mission of the Twin Rivers Middle School Counseling Department is to inspire all students to reach their academic, career, and personal potential and, in doing so, become successful college and career ready, world-class citizens. Twin Rivers Middle School Counselors will provide a developmentally appropriate program which includes individual and small group counseling as well as core curriculum lessons that are accessible to every student.

4 2014-2015 Program Goals GOAL #1 GOAL #2 GOAL #3
Academic: 100% of students scoring 810 or below on the reading section of the 2014 CRCT will meet academic promotion requirements. GOAL #2 Academic: 100% of students scoring 810 or below on the math section of the 2014 CRCT will meet academic promotion requirements. GOAL #3 Attendance: The number of students with 15 or more absences will decrease from the school year.

Individual Counseling/Academic Grade Monitoring Classroom Guidance Academic Success Small Groups Refer to Tuesday or Thursday 8:20 Peer Leader Help Sessions After-school Peer Tutoring sessions Support from HS & 8th grade Peer Leaders within the classroom Advisement Lessons Parent Consultation Teacher & Administrator Consultation at weekly Kid Talks SST/RTI Referral (if needed) Academic Support Resources on the TRMS Counseling Website

6 Attendance Interventions
Weekly attendance review Quarterly Local School Attendance Committee meetings with Counselors, School Social Worker & Principal Follow established attendance protocol (including individual counseling, attendance improvement plans, parent phone calls, attendance incentives and SARC meetings as needed)
