6 CSU’s Affordable Learning Solutions
Accessibility Affordability Choice The CSU has been at the forefront in partnering with publishers and higher education to build these new capacities and today, we’ll highlight the CSU’s readiness to significantly reduce the cost of course materials for our students. The CSU’s Affordable Learning Solutions Initiative is guided by 3 principles. Choice: Both students and faculty need to choose the content and the format that best achieve their learning and teaching goals. Affordability: Innovative technologies and business strategies can significantly reduce costs for students and the CSU. Accessibility: The CSU is committed to making affordable learning solutions accessible to all our students, including those students with disabilities.

Shared System Services available to all CSU campuses Economies of scale lowers costs Consistency of services improves quality Campus Initiatives leverage local leadership and resources Builds on trusted culture and meaningful purposes The CSU’s Affordable Learning Solutions strategy has 2 key elements: The first is to provide shared system services that deliver a common infrastructure for more cost effective and sustainable services. The second key element is to build upon the trusted culture of each campus and their local campus initiatives so affordable learning can be blended into the decisions made every day by the faculty, staff, and students of the CSU. It is this combination of global and local strategies that we’ll report on today
