What should I do if I have an accident?
Work Readiness Program What should I do if I have an accident? Emergency procedures are found on your workplace learning student contact card. Carry this card on you at all times. Seek first aid or medical help immediately. Contact your parent or carer. Let your employer know immediately an accident occurs, and your school. Your medical bills will need to be claimed through Medicare or private health insurance. After the school is notified write a report of the incident within 24 hours, as your teacher will require these details. Hunter Central Coast Region

In case of an accident Can I get workers’ compensation? NO, as students are volunteers, not employees, it is not classified as workers’ compensation. (Students are not to receive payment for Workplace Learning or this will negate the cover of insurance supplied by the Department of Education.) Remember that your work placement is a mandatory component of your HSC. Employers give up their time to supervise you while you are at work. Hunter Central Coast Region
