Japan – 285,336 metric tons (up 20% compared to 2016) ● value up 27% to $1.75 billion – already a post-BSE record ● chilled beef exports up 35% to 137,707 mt, valued at $1.02 billion (up 39 percent)
Mexico – Steady with 2016 in both volume (216,765 mt) and value ($894.1 million)
South Korea – 167,532 mt (up 5%) ● value up 19% to $1.1 billion – topping the 2016 record ● chilled beef up 88% to 41,086 mt, valued at $368.5 million (up 93%)
Hong Kong – 113,440 mt (up 13%) ● value up 26% to $765 million
Canada – 105,921 mt (up 1%) ● value up 5% to $725 million
Taiwan – 40,402 mt (up 3%) ● value up 16% to $369.9 million, already breaking the 2016 record
