Increased shipment of goods across the continent Increased travel and migration from coast to coast Created new provinces & territories in Canada Birth of nationalism before the railroad, most people only thought of themselves as belonging to their province/state; after they felt as if they were part of one country Increase of immigrants from Asia and Europe to work on the railroad (especially Chinese)
