10 Grade Point Average (GPA) and Rank
Students in grades 9-12 will be ranked at the end of the first semester and at the end of the school year. Students must be Distinguished to be considered top 10 % Automatic College Admission (Four Math/Four Science and an Endorsement). High School credits that are earned in middle school will be included in the averaging for ranking purposes. 11 8th grade STAAR If a student fails to master any section of STAAR this spring, and the Grade Placement Committee places them in 9th, the student may be assigned to a designated support class for that content area.

Who is a good match for Pre-AP/AP? Open enrollment GT students will be instructed in PAP/AP classes Self-disciplined Motivated and hard working Organized and meets deadlines Goal Oriented ABOVE grade level in Reading and Math skills Strong reading, writing, or math skills depending on the content area Efficient note taker Works independently Goes above and beyond teacher expectations Manages time well Enjoys learning and wants to be in the class

15 Dual Credit and Certification Programs
Partner with Del Mar for a variety of courses Affordable- $99 per class!! Available for 10, 11, and 12 graders Must take the Texas Success Initiative Assessment (TSIA) *** Do your college degree plan research ahead of time*** Certification Programs- (CISD pays for the following program tuition costs) Partner with Del Mar and Craft Training Center (CTC) to offer a variety of certification programs (Can start as early as Sophomore year!) Examples: CNA/Phlebotomy/EKG (Del Mar) Pharmacy Technician (Calallen Campus) Pipefitting/Welding (CTC) Instrumentation/Electrical (CTC) Cosmetology (Del Mar) Auto and Diesel Mechanics (Del Mar) Culinary Arts (Del Mar) AND THE LIST GOES ON!!

What is my Career Goal? How am I going to get to this career? High School Preparations by Endorsements Technical training (ex: Craft Training Center and Del Mar West or Continuing Education programs) Community College 4-year University (public or private) Military Plan Ahead! It’s never too early to begin looking at post-secondary options/opportunities Use Interest and Ability Inventories to determine strengths and interests (Career Cruiser/Xello, ASVAB) Use websites to identify: Colleges of interest Financial Aid options Scholarship Opportunities Job shadowing and Summer programs available
