1 Reading Food Labels March 2017

2 Purpose of the campaign for the Employer
Many adults feel confused or intimidated when reading nutrition food labels. This wellness activity is intended to teach your employees how to read and understand food labels while offering an opportunity to practice with a real life example. Knowing how to interpret food labels will help your employees become healthier and more informed consumers.

3 Instructions for the Campaign for the Employer
In order to allow your employees to practice reading a food label, we have provided you with a printable food label for Progresso Traditional Chicken Noodle Soup. We have also provided an educational handout that explains how to read food labels. We ask that you display this food label, along with the provided educational handout, in a prominent location where your employees may easily view them. (Example: table in breakroom or cafeteria.) An /letter template has been included in this packet that will introduce and explain the program to your employees. It is recommended that you attach a copy of the educational handout when you release the instructional . This will give your employees an opportunity to review the information ahead of time. If possible, we suggest that you purchase 1 can of Progresso Traditional Chicken Noodle soup, and place it near its printed food label. This will attract more attention from your workforce. During the wellness activity, employees will review the printed food label, consult their educational handout, and complete a 3 question OPEN BOOK quiz. (Quiz is included in this packet.) We suggest that employees who answer all 3 questions correctly be entered into a drawing for a prize.
