3. Version Control Functionality
Version control is a new functionality from beas that allows to define one or more item structure (BOM and routing) for one finished good or assembly item
Benefits
Enhancements in master data management: flexibility in usage of several Bill of Materials or Routings for one Finished Good or Assembly
Version control scope: at the moment, version control can only apply for manual Work Order management. MRP process is out of scope at the moment
Version control reports: accessibility for detailed information within versions and comparisons of variances between versions

Only one version can be active
BOM and routing are bound to the product, there is a 1:1 linkage between them. In the product, a version number can be stored. The version is assigned to the item and to the BOM and/or routing

BOM and routing are linked to the product via version. BOM and routing are managed separately, they can be assigned to any version. The BOM and routing tabs on Item master data will disappear
This is the most flexible option, but also most complex to be managed

8. Version Control Management Item Master Data
The version is created directly on the item master data from item structure
You can define the type of administration per item:
Default = ID of BOM and routing are the same as the item ID. This means the BOM and routing is linked to the item by version
Extended view = like default, but in structure view the BOM / routings are displayed per version. This setting affects only the display.
Separate BOM = Item ID, BOM ID and routing ID can be different. In item version you store, which BOM is to use for the item and for the version. In the BOM you define, which routing to use

In the screen, the user can create, edit or view the version
The system will have some default status to select or the user can create his own status

The user can define the range of time the version will be used according to the business process. This applies when a raw material from the BOM is promotional and will be out for only a month

The status brings the option to filter the usage of the version within beas processes.
It declares if the version will apply on the sales order creation, work orders and processes of issues and receipts

The version is created directly on the item master data from item structure
You can define the type of administration per item:
Simple Item i-version control
Different Version in one bom – list or routing list.
You can set per position, if the entry is active for this i-version

16. Version Control Management Separate BOM Master Data
On the version master data, when selecting “Separate Bill of Material”, there will be two new fields where you can assign an specific BOM (recipe) or routing
You must define the bill of material or routing on the specific master data:
The system allows to duplicate bill of materials and routings and create several according to the business requirements
When you assign the BOM and/or routing, that master data is not assigned directly to the version, in other words, each raw material is independent from the version
The routing will be assign on the BOM screen

20. Version Control Reports Structure Report
The structure shows all levels from the item, going through sub-assembly and raw material. Also the routing within each level
The system shows the complete structure from the item according to the version requested and routing if needed
