2 AGENDAS Concepts about MEC Characters and prime objectives
Application scenarios Drivers of MEC technique Challenges Reference

3 Radio access information
Concepts of mec Computation Storage Why 5G? Radio access information Three-party partner Why 5G:the future networks to meet the extreme capacity and performance demands. Software Defined Networking (SDN), Network Functions Virtualization (NFV), Mobile Edge Computing (MEC) and Fog Computing (FC)  MEC: why:users’ increasing reliance on mobile devices to carry out compute and storage intensive operations how : bringing the cloud closer to the edge of the network and to the users   what: the computing, storage and networking resources are integrated with the base station vs tradition base station: traffic control flow(forwarding and filtering packaget)

4 Characters: Objectives:
Optimization of mobile resource Low latency High bandwidth Optimization of large data Providing context-aware services with the help of RAN info Proximity Location awareness By bringing cloud into base station, what can we benefit. Characters: low latency, high bandwidth, , proximity and real-time insight into radio network information and location awareness Prime objectives: Optimization of mobile resources by hosting compute intensive application, such as image processing, m-gaming, at the edge network. Optimization of the large data before sending to the cloud. Enabling cloud services within the close proximity of mobile subscribers. Providing context-aware services with the help of RAN information Radio network information Enabling cloud service for mobile subscribers

5 Application scenarios
Augmented reality services : 1. require an application to analyse the output from a device’s camera and/or a precise location in order to supplement a user’s experience when visiting a point of interest by providing additional information to the user which is possible with high data rates and low latency computation. 2. by processing such data on the MEC platforms. 3. In addition to that, hosting the augmented reality application on a MEC is advantageous since additional information referring to a point of interest is highly localised. Connected cars: 1. Communication of vehicles and roadside sensors with a roadside unit is intended to increase the safety, efficiency and convenience of the transportation system by exchanging critical safety and operational data. 2. Connected cars can benefit from applying Mobile Edge Computing by placing connected car cloud into the highly distributed mobile base station environment and enabling data and applications to be hosted close to the vehicles. Augmented Reality Connected Cars

6 Drivers The increase of mobile traffic and pressure on costs lead to implementing several changes to maintain quality of experience, to generate revenue, and optimize network operations and resource utilization. The needs from different fields IoT: Local analysis to ease security and backhaul impacts of Internet of Things. For enterprises: The ability to enable and engage with customers with more efficient, secure and low latency connections for enterprises. Shorting the time to launch new revenue generating applications for current customers but also for specific industries and sectors, for mobile operators

7 Standard Protocol Mobility Management Heterogeneity Scalability
Challenges Standard Protocol Mobility Management Heterogeneity Scalability Standard Protocol :a process to bring an open environment for researchers and industries to work in a single agreed platform. Simulation Platform: a process of modeling a real world system with mathematical formula and it can be implemented using a general programming language Mobility Management :for frequent disconnection of link between devices and edge network in Mobile Edge Computing platform. The challenge is implementing a mobility management technique with which user can access edge application with any disconnection Heterogeneity: in terms of wireless network interfaces , through different available radio access technologies such as Wi-Fi, 3G, 4G, WiMAX and 5G. Scalability: ensures the availability of the service regardless of the number of client devices in the edge network; The edge serve should ensure scalability of the service by applying load balancing mechanism, server clusters Security: Security is one of the challenging issues in Mobile Edge Computing platform where applications are hosted at the edge network. These challenges include authentication, data and application protection and assurance of data integrity. Security
