7 PRACTICE AND EVENT ATTENDANCE
PRACTICE IS EVERY DAY AND EVERY DAY IS REQUIRED You do not have to be scheduled in the 6th Period Class, but you need to come to practice. Parents and athletes should schedule work and medical appointments around the schedule when possible. If you will not be at practice you must notify your head coach by before the absence. Teachers may not require you to make up tests during practice, this is a class too. Event coaches are directed to hold athletes out of meets who miss practice prior to meets. If you have an unavoidable, emergency or preplanned conflict make sure you let your event and head coach know, don’t send messages with other athletes. There will be practices scheduled during the Spring Break at crucial peak of the season. If you are in town you are expected to attend. Must send coaches an informing us of your vacation a head of time. Missing Practice shows non-commitment to your growth as an athlete and could result in removal from the team and 6th period class if applicable.

8 Weekend Commitments We do have several weekend events or invitationals. Not Every Weekend but a good amount. Not all will be invited, but if you are doing well at your event at your level you will be asked to come. A schedule will be provided to you many months in advance. We understand that many individuals participate in club sports, however we ask that you manage your schedule so that you can make it to weekend commits Invitationals cost the team money that cannot be refunded if people can’t show up we waste hundreds of dollars and you lose an opportunity to make top marks and get yourself noticed. Every athlete’s times and measurements get placed on online database which college coaches have access to. If you don’t think you not going to get recruited for track you never know who is looking

16 Leadership and Individual Goals
This year we will have two event captains per gender that will be voted on by the athletes and approved by the coaches. Varsity athletes only (no frosh captains). Captains will be responsible for ensuring that individuals are committed to the program. Focus on leading by example and pushing others to work at a high level. Don’t take days off because they feel like it. They don’t let others take days off because they feel like it. Focus on team goals and development of all others on the team. You are someone the coach can go to when we need you to discuss and issue or help fix a problem Individual Goals When the season starts you will be asked to write down three individual goals you want to achieve. We will hold on to these goals and if you achieve them you will receive special recognition at the banquet. (Goals must be realistic, measurable and specific to you and your abilities).
