4 How is junior high different than elementary?
JUNIOR HIGH IS AWESOME! “Welcome to Junior High” No Recess Lockers- storage, come to class prepared PowerSchool - check every school day, or more Many, different teachers Learn behaviors that prepare you for High School and College

5 How do I earn good grades?
Time Management Be prepared for class Complete assignments thoroughly and on time Set aside time each day for school work Take notes If you don’t understand, ask questions Stay Motivated

Biblical Studies- Boys & Girls English English (1 sem. blocked) 7th – blocked 1st semester 8th – blocked 2nd semester Math Advanced Math 7 and Algebra I- Honors Path Placement determined by test scores Social Studies 7th-World History 8th- U.S. History Science PE/Health- 1 sem. 7 Physical education and health
Students need their PE uniforms the first day of class. Including a pair of athletic shoes, and uniform of shirt and shorts.  The shirt and shorts can be purchased at the Back to School event or the first day of class.   Costs for the shirts are $15 and shorts are $20.  PE is one Semester long and is 2 days a week for 9 weeks, then three days a week for 9 weeks. Health is one semester long and is 2 days a week for 9 weeks then three days a week for 9 weeks. This is the same bell as PE, but on altering days. Books will be online this year.

HS Math 8th-Algebra I 9th- Geometry 10th- Algebra II 11th- CCP Pre Calc/Trig 12th- AP Calculus or CCP/Honors Calculus 1 CCP/Honors College Algebra CCP/Honors Statistics I Junior High Classes for High School Credit Spanish- 7th grade - semester 8th grade- all year Final grade is a “C” or better Math- Algebra I- 8th grade year Pre-requisite: Advanced Math-7th Final grade is a “B-” or better

9 Honor roll quarterly high honors – 4. 0 GPA A/b honor Roll- 3. 1 – 3
Honor roll quarterly high honors – 4.0 GPA A/b honor Roll- 3.1 – 3.9 GPA with no C’s or D’s (DOES NOT INCLUDE SATELLITE OR MENU STUDENTS)

10 Exam procedures Core classes Exam week- typically half days
Comprehensive-8th Unit exam- 7th 20% of Semester Grade December- before the end of 1st semester May- end of 2nd semester

11 Retention policy A student will be held in the same grade if more then 1 core subject area is failed for the entire year. If 2 classes are failed, then student may attend summer school. If more than 3 failed classes, then student is automatically retained.
