Encourage your child to read nightly for 20 minutes Practice multiplication facts This month’s counseling focus is: Self-Control and Social/Emotional Classroom Lessons Kinder: Caring and Helping First Grade: Similarities and Differences Second Grade: Focusing Attention Third: Planning to Learn Fourth– Fifth Grade: Problem Solving/Making a Plan Generation Texas Week- Bring awareness to college and career options for students all over Texas. I hope that you all are staying healthy. It is very important that we try to encourage the best health possible for our school family. If you have a sick child, please be sure to follow the district’s sick guidelines and keep them at home. If you have questions about your sick child, please contact the clinic and I will be happy to answer them! On November 6th, you may take your student(s) for a flu vaccine. The location is as follows: 1st United Methodist Church 121 N. Center Street Grand Prairie, Tx 75150 5:00p.m. – 7:00p.m. Clinic News Items: The Grand Prairie Rotary Club sponsors free dental exams and sealants to our 2nd grade students. This year, 33 students took advantage of this great program. We are thankful to the Rotary Club for this service, and thank you to the parents that consented to participate. The Family Life Education program will be taught to the 5th grade students on November 15th and 16th. Please be sure you have signed your child’s consent form signed and return it to the school so they can participate. Please be sure to encourage and use good handwashing techniques to help prevent the spread of germs. Flu Prevention Tips: Specials Corner Health Spot Music: 5th Grade is practicing for their music program “Music at the Movies” 4th Grade is learning the recorder, which is a great way to continue learning about rhythm and the treble clef 2nd and 3rd Grade are going to develop their singing voices by singing in parts as well as learn about classical music Kinder and 1st Grade will explore high and low pitches and continue moving to music! Art: Williams artists have been working so diligently on their portfolios. Second grade will be showing off Loteria Cards they’ve created in respect to Hispanic Heritage month. The students will also create fall and Halloween drawings! Happy Fall, Y’all! PE: For the month of November we will focus on the following: Basketball Cooperative Games Soccer Safety PE reminders: 1. Everyone MUST wear sneakers for safety on their PE days!!! 2. Girls should wear shorts under dresses if they have PE that day. 3. If a student has a medical condition or injury, please send a note/medical excuse. 4. If student is missing more than 3 PE classes (one week) a Doctor’s note is required! 5. No big jewelry is allowed during PE for safety reasons, but can be taken off before class starts.
