Victor Garcia is the senior advisor for all three transfer populations, transfer, reentry and veterans. Victor was also a transfer student so, like us, he knows what its like to be a transfer student and all the challenges we face. Hope Medina is the center coordinator, who can do advising if needed. Together, we welcome you to Davis and say congratulations on your acceptance into UC Davis! Davis is a wonderful school, great for incoming students who are freshmen or transfers. We are here to help you adjust and succeed in this adventure!

Our mission is your Success! Success Coaching and Learning Strategies! Time Management and Overcoming Procrastination workshops 1-on-1 Success Coaching First-Year Aggie Connect Program Small-group mentoring around a common theme Build community “How to stay in school and succeed!” advising Slide 6: There are some useful resources for parents, but the new students have even more resources at their command. The Student Academic Success Center (SASC) will be one of the most useful resources in the coming two years. Tutoring - Chemistry/Biology; Math/Stats; Writing; plus small group tutoring Chemistry & Biology & Physics- For students who are taking chem or bio classes, SASC offers workshops, drop-in tutoring, office hours, small group tutoring and they have books and videos that you can check out. Study Skills – How to annotate while reading; lecture note taking; time management; tips for taking exams Retention Services - general academic and social activities, study skills assistance, and referral services. Mathematics & Statistics- The SASC also offers the same resources for math classes, but in addition they offer help in algebra and trig at the beginning of every quarter before you take the math placement exams. Writing/ESL- At SASC, writing workshops offer strategies and reviews of the writing process from prewriting through revision for class essays. Writing specialists and tutors also work individually with students on writing assignments for any course offered by UC Davis. In your writing appointment, we can help you understand the assignment or prompt and offer strategies for brainstorming, prewriting, organizing, developing, and revising your essay or term paper.

Pre-Law School Advising 111 South Hall
The Pre-Law Advising team provides information on schools and programs for students interested in attending law school. Pre-Graduate School Advising 111 South Hall Slide 7: Health Science Advising offers group advising for your field of interest; helps you learn how to obtain a letter of recommendation; how to write a personal statement; make appointments to speak with an advisor; provides information on schools and programs in the health professions; offers handouts on scholarships; preparation for majors in various health fields; sample application questions; interviewing prompts; and requirements for all fields. Pre-teaching/Pre-graduate school advisors assist with the application process, how to present yourself as the strongest candidate possible. Assists students in preparing for their advanced educational goals (master's and doctoral degrees).

Computer access w/ free printing Academic workshops Crankstart and Osher Reentry Scholarship Programs Slide 8: As we mentioned before, we are Peer Advisors of the TRV center, which stands for the Transfer, Reentry, Veteran center. The TRV center exists solely to help you thrive at UC Davis. We offer many different things for your convenience, including Drop in academic peer advising where you can come in with any academic difficulty and ask for help or guidance. We also have a lovely study space for you to come to in between classes to do work, or just to hang out! We offer academic workshops such as Career competencies, graduate school workshops, and more! We have computer access with free printing, Transfer Tuesdays . You can come in and ask us about the Osher Reentry scholarship program which has established a $1 million endowment to support scholarships for students 25–50 years old. They reward ten students with 5,000 scholarships.

Transfer Student An undergraduate who is transferring from a community college or four-year institution Reentry Student An undergraduate student 25 years or over A student parent Married students Jessica Slide 9: Now you’ve been hearing us throw around some terms, so we are going to clear those up! First off, you all know you are transfer or reentry or veteran students. But what does that mean? A transfer student is a student who is coming to Davis after having attended a junior or community college. A reentry student is an undergraduate who is over 25 years old, a graduate student who is over 30 years old or a student parent. And last a Veteran student is an undergraduate student who is or was in the armed forces. TRC
