2 UDL Evaluates environment, classroom and culture. Focuses on variability. The entire concept is proactive. Designs instruction prior to arrival of students. DIFFERENTIATION Evaluates learners in the classroom. Focuses on individual stability. The entire concept is reactive. Retrofits instruction. COMPARE & CONTRAST

3 Apparently, the Universal Design for Learning and differentiated instruction enhance and facilitate the creation of lessons that foster problem solving, creativity and innovativeness and equally address both local and global issues. Therefore, the duo are very fundamental towards an effective learning process for all students. The combination of the two embraces a greater and critical input required for safe and positive learning to occur through provisions of interactive and engaging lessons (Puckett, 2013).

4 After watching the small video on DI and UDL by Eadens (2013), I came to learn that when differentiated instruction are well used by the universal design for learning it brings along effective learning for all students despite their different learning styles and abilities. For instance, it is clear from the video that before using the DI & UDL the lesson went terrible but, after using it then the educator noted tremendous changes in learning abilities in his students (Eadens, 2013).

5  Moreover, the National center on Universal Design for learning (2012), demonstrates that UDL is fundamentally a framework meant to optimize and improve teaching and learning for all students.  It equally, inculcates the scientific thought on how human beings learn (National Center on Universal Design for Learning, 2012).
