2 What is this session about?
Your responsibilities as a student with a Tier 4 visa Our responsibility as your Tier 4 ‘sponsor’ How to make sure you stay ‘compliant’ EU/EEA students can work freely without further permission. Short Term Study visa holders CANNOT work The University strongly advises you do not work more than 15 hours per week, as this may adversely affect your studies.

4 Who makes the rules The Tier 4 visa rules are set by the Home Office (UKVI) – not by the University You and the University are legally requires to follow them They are non-negotiable – we can’t argue you out of them! If you seriously break the rules it is unlikely that we will be able to fix things

7 Working on a Tier 4 visa There are very strict rules about the amount of work you can do: You cannot be self-employed You cannot fill a full-time permanent vacancy You cannot be an entertainer or professional sports person (including coach) You can only work certain hours, depending on your level of study

8 Working on a Tier 4 visa UG students – you may work up to 20 hours per week during University term dates. You may work full-time during vacation periods. PGT/PGR students - you may work up to 20 hours per week during University term dates, and whilst you are writing your dissertation over the summer. Full time work is allowed from when you submit your dissertation/thesis. See more on our website.

9 What do I need to do? In order to comply with your visa, you must:
Show your original qualifications, passport and visa Keep your contact details up to date on iExeter Bring in your new passport or visa, if replaced Attend your Programme: Contact your college if you cannot attend your Programme for whatever reason We are required to report you if you do not attend
