How likely are we to have disasters in the UK compared to other countries? Are there any maps that surprise you? Why? Select the 4 true statements from the list and copy them into your book

9 Model answer Storms A Large number of people are killed by storms in SE ASIA There are also many people killed by storms in Central America. Few people are affected by storms in Europe, Australia and New Zealand. The countries where most people are killed are islands or countries with a coastline that is low land.

17 Your brief… DR Congo has a history of civil war.
There is still conflict between different groups of people including the government and tribal groups. The groups are fighting over natural resources and land. In August 2008 there was fighting between rebel tribal groups and the government, causing a large number of people to flee from their homes. 20 Review Select a representative from your combined group who will explain to the rest of the class who you are, what you have decided to include in your Action Plan, and how you are going to do it. Be prepared to answer some questions about your plans! As a class, discuss how effective you think each group's plan would be, and which you think should be made a priority to give maximum help to the people of the Democratic Republic of Congo.

21 Homework Choose a recent disaster and make a 3 slide power point to show the causes and effects of the disaster and suggestions on the help that would improve conditions for people.
