2 What is asexual reproduction?
Reproduction in which a single parent produces offspring that are genetically identical to the parent Does not involve the combination of gametes (egg and sperm cell)

What characteristics of prokaryotes do you remember? Watch the video clip and record any observations you make. MAKE SURE THE SOUND IS ON.

Division of one cell into two identical offspring cells

Example 1 – Paramecium Binary Fission New organism is created by equal division of nuclear material and cytoplasm Have the students watch the video clips and record their observations. Remind the students that this is still a single-celled organism. (All the rest of the examples are for multicellular organisms.)
