4 Tonight’s focus is on college.
College planning takes time. It’s not something that is easily decided overnight.

5 Why College? Expected lifetime earnings:

8 Narrowing Down Colleges
Research and investigate schools. Narrow your list down to 3 schools (if possible).

9 Road Trip Plan time to visit the colleges you are considering! *meet with an admissions counselor -chances of admission -review cost/financial aid -graduation -job placement *take a campus tour *visit a class *talk with staff and students

10 NCAA Clearinghouse *If it looks as though your student/athlete may have an opportunity to participate in athletics at a Division 1 or Division 2 school next year you must be registered with the NCAA Clearinghouse. *If you have questions you may contact Marc Miller in the Wenatchee High School counseling office ex. 709. 11 Apply Early! All colleges have different deadlines for applying.

Talk with parents, teachers, and a counselor. Choose the college that’s right for you. Pay attention to deadlines to respond Contact colleges you choose not to attend.

17 The Truth is . . . College is expensive but when there’s a will, there’s a way!

18 Apply for Financial Aid early!
FAFSA forms can be submitted after January 1st. *Before the FAFSA can be submitted, students and parents need to apply for a PIN. *Complete the worksheet before Jan. 1 to be prepared for the deadline.

20 Beware of . . . Financial aid scams *You should never have to pay a
fee to submit the FAFSA or any scholarship application. *Consult with college before making financial commitment

21 WHS Scholarship Role Collect scholarship information.
Publish scholarship opportunities. Liaison between providers and students. Review packets before submission. We do not fill out applications. We do not insure your child can afford college.
