Have your children said anything to you about the Zones yet?
What are the zones? Have your children said anything to you about the Zones yet?

What Are The ZONES? There are four zones to describe how your brain and body feel. BLUE Zone – Your body is running slow, such as when you are tired, sick, sad or bored. GREEN Zone – Like a green light, you are “good to go.” Your body may feel happy, calm and focused. YELLOW Zone – This zone describes when you start to loose control, such as when you are frustrated, anxious, worried, silly or surprised. Use caution when you are in this zone. RED Zone – This zone is for extreme emotions such as anger, terror and aggression. When you are in this zone, you are out of control, have trouble making good decisions and must STOP! Have people come up and place their emotions on the traffic signs.

Expected Behaviour vs. Unexpected Behaviour
Comfortable Feelings vs. Uncomfortable Feelings Success with Friends and Learning vs Challenges with Friends and Learning

The Tools

Belly Breaths

Size of the Problem

Talk to Adult Sometimes we need to get rid of our yellow or blue feelings. We can do this by talking to an adult. Who is a safe adult you trust?

Fidget Imagine you have a ball in your hand. Squeeze it as hard as you can for 5 seconds. Do this again 2 more times.

The Emotion Safe Write down all of your emotions on a piece of paper. Who or what is bothering you? Write your thoughts out on a piece of paper. After your thoughts are emptied, tear up the paper.

The Friendly Comeback If somebody is upsetting you, think of something positive you can say before walking away. For example, if someone is teasing you about your hat, you could say “I happen to like my hat” and then walk away.
