2 THE EXAM You will write about four things: Your childhood
What you are doing now Where you would like to be, or what you would like to be doing in the future? Advice to other ESL students.

3 Yikes! How many sentences do we have to write?
You will have a template that will guide you through the process of writing this autobiography according to the English grammar you have learned this semester. Plan on writing about 10 sentences for each of the first three sections and then 1 sentence for the final section giving advice. (Total = 31)

4 Section 1 - Your Childhood
Paragraphs about your childhood are in past tense. Use clauses with “WHEN”, “WHILE” and “AGO” Use past progressive when comparing two events happening at the same time. What did you “HAVE TO” do as a child? What “COULD” you do well? What “COULDN’T” you do? Use adjectives and adverbs to describe yourself as a child. Compare yourself to another member of your family. Are you “ALIKE” or “DIFFERENT FROM” them?

5 Section 2 - What You Are Doing Now
When writing about your life now, use present tense or present progressive tense Use “TOO” and “VERY”, to describe some things in your life now you like and don’t like. Use “SOME” and “ANY” to describe what you have and don’t have now. Using “IF” clauses, describe issues that can happen and how you react to them. What “CAN” you do well and what are you “NOT ABLE TO” do or “DON’T KNOW HOW TO” do? Compare yourself to all the other students in the classroom using superlatives we learned, like “BEST”, and “ONE OF THE”.

6 Section 3 - Your Future! Use “WILL” and “BE GOING TO” when writing about the future. What “SHOULD” you do? What “MUST” you do? Use “IN” to write about when each part of your future will be. Use “LET’S” to describe how you tell your family about your plans. Use “SOME”, “EVERY” and “NO” with -body, -thing and -one to describe how you will plan your future with others. Describe yourself in the future using adjectives and adverbs.

7 Section 4 - Advice This section is one sentence only.
