After the communist Fidel Castro came to power in Cuba, the US tried to overthrow him. He got Missiles from the Soviet Union to protect himself.
This was a threat to the U.S.
U.S. blockaded Cuba until Soviets removed missiles.

The Berlin wall came down in 1989 when Germans from the East crossed over to West Berlin.
It marked the ending of the Cold War and the collapse of Soviet domination of Eastern Europe. Germany unified shortly after.

For Germans, when the people of East Berlin tore down the wall in communism was all but over for them.
