Native Americans and Europeans generally cooperated with each other in the early years of settlement.

African and Indigenous peoples intermarried, which led to cultural diffusion. Cultural diffusion is the gradual spread of cultural features between different groups of people. This can take the form of technology, language, religion, etc.

Europeans settled near water to improve access to trade. This means they were closer to ports and could import/ export goods.
